What is wrong with me?

I was so proud of my working out last week!  3 days of getting up at 6am and jumping on the treadmill.  I felt great, energized, and happy.  But now, I just want to sleep, eat, watch tv...  I have no motivation to walk on the treadmill, at all.  What changed?
Well, the weather.  It's cold and snowing, it's dark all the time.  But, really?  The treadmill is indoors, so should the weather really make any difference at all?
That's my only excuse...  and it's a lame one.  I hope I can find my motivation again and fast!

Realization...

Eating right is just not enough for me. I NEED the exercise to see results. Ugh, I hate exercise! Although, get this... I jogged, I know, stop laughing, I did! For like 5 whole minutes. LOL, not in a row or anything, in 5 seperate 1 minute increments while on the treadmill yesterday.
I walked the mill again today, but did not try to jog.  The hubby made a comment "Was that you pounding the ground this morning?"  Oops, I forgot how sound travels from the basement right up to the 2nd floor.   Oh well.  I did notice that I was able to keep my pace at 3MPH minimum.  I kicked it up to 3.5 for most of the time, when I needed a break, I dropped it back to 3.  It used to be that 3 was my high, now it's my low!  Awesome

Autumn Sangria

Ingredients
2 bottles cheap red wine (Merlot, cabernet, shiraz)
1 bottle ginger ale  (diet)
1 cup sugar  (Splenda)
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground clove
2 to 3 apples
4 to 5 cinnamon sticks

Directions
In a medium pot, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Let simmer for ten minutes, stirring occasionally until sugar is dissolved.
Pour immediately into a sealed pitcher or other container. Chop apples and add them along with the cinnamon sticks to the mixture.  Cover and refrigerate for at least 24 hours.
For a more carbonated punch or mimosa, add the ginger ale to the wine after it's cooled ... then it will keep the fizz

Pumpkin Cake

If you like pumpkin pie, you'll love this cake's subtle spice flavors and velvety cream cheese frosting. The slightly sweet and mild pecans add a pleasant crunch to the smooth frosting. Pumpkin-pie spice is a combination of warm spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and mace. Use it to enliven applesauce, vanilla ice cream, or tea.
Yield: 16 servings (serving size: 1 slice)
Ingredients
Cake:
Cooking spray
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar  (I used Splenda)
1/2 cup packed brown sugar  (Brown sugar Splenda)
1/4 cup canola oil   (applesauce)
1/2 cup egg substitute   (applesauce)
2 large eggs    (egg beaters)
1 (15-ounce) can unsweetened pumpkin
2 cups all-purpose flour (about 9 ounces)   (100% whole wheat)
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons pumpkin-pie spice
1/2 teaspoon salt
Frosting:
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1 (8-ounce) package 1/3-less-fat cream cheese
3 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons fresh orange juice
1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted   (walnuts)
Orange slices (optional)
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°.
To prepare cake, coat 2 (8-inch) round cake pans with cooking spray. Dust pans evenly with 2 tablespoons flour.
Combine 1 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar, and oil in a large bowl; beat with a mixer at medium speed 2 minutes or until well blended. Add egg substitute and eggs; beat until well blended. Add pumpkin, beating until blended.
Lightly spoon 2 cups flour into dry measuring cups; level with a knife. Combine flour, baking powder, and next 3 ingredients (through salt) in a medium bowl. Gradually add flour mixture to pumpkin mixture, beating just until blended. Spoon batter into prepared pans. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pans 10 minutes on a wire rack. Remove cake from pans; cool completely on wire rack.
To prepare frosting, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating until blended (do not overbeat). Add juice, stirring until blended.
Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate. Spread 1 cup frosting over layer, and top with remaining cake layer. Spread remaining frosting over top of cake. Sprinkle with pecans, and garnish with orange slices, if desired.

85 lbs gone...

but I really don't see a difference in the mirror.  I know that there have been physical changes, I can 'see' them in the way my clothes fit and in the tape measurements of my body.  I can also see it in my face in certain photos.  But when I look in the mirror...  I'm still a nearly 400 lb Hubba Bubba Chubba.  I think it's going to take a while for my self image to catch up with the scale.

But, I suppose that's a good thing! They are saggy in the butt, loose in the waist and over all just too big.  I went to The Avenue just to try on some jeans, I was curious if I could fit into a smaller size yet.  I took 26's and 24's into the fitting room.  I started with the 24's praying I could squish into them...  SUPRISE!!!!  They fit comfortably, no jumping up and down or sucking my gut to get them on.  So, I grabbed 22's...  could I possibly pull this off?  I expected to lay down or grab a friend to yank the zipper up, lol.  But again, I got them on.  They were def snug, maybe just a smidge too snug, but if I am going to keep losing, I might as well get the smaller pair.  Right?  That's 5 pant sizes since May.  I was wearing a 32 and now I can fit in a 22!   I am so excited, now if I could just afford to buy a pair.  Oh well, maybe by then I'll fit into a size 20....

Just sayin...

Do you have a friend who uses this term ALL THE TIME? Are you an offender yourself? I looked the phrase up on Urban Dictionary "A phrase tacked on to the end of any bigoted, biased, hurtful, wrong or simply stupid remark. The speaker tacks on the phrase with the intent absolving themselves of any guilt or argument over the statement."
I never really noticed the popularity of this phrase until somebody used it on me.  I can't give a direct quote because I am still quazi friends with the person.  (Quazi?  I think I just made that up)  Well, anyway they said something pretty hurtful and followed it up with "Just Saying".  From that day forward, I have have been uber aware of its useage.  I hear it in daily conversations and see it often on Facebook.  I use it myself now, mostly to see if it provokes people or as an inside joke between the DH and I.
Is there a phrase that irks you?  Tell me about it you big dork, Just sayin....

A new program...

Hey all, it's me, I'm back and I have news  to share!  I am going to be working with Dr Roizen on my weightloss.  Do you know who that is?  If not, are you living under a rock?     Google him!  Anyway, he has offered to coach me via email.  I have to send him my daily food journal and how many steps I take each day.  I also need to change my diet pretty significantly.  Some of the things I can't eat include trans and saturated fats, so no 4 legged animals and their fats.  No added sugars, syrups.  Only 100% whole grains.   This should be interesting.   I also need to work on reaching 10,000 steps a day.  I have to report total steps daily too.   Wish me luck!

I am still here...

I have such a hard time finding the time to blog right now, I am sorry.  I am still here and still on my weightloss journey.  The past month has been sort of rough.  I am following a few friends advice, one of them always says 'Do your best and forget the rest'.  The other says 'Just eat healthy 80% of the time, and you'll be fine'.  My eating has been fairly good, Sure I have my moments when I cave in to temptation, like the party last Friday night, I ate 2 cupcakes!!!  But, in the past I would have eaten the whole batch, hidden the evidence, baked a new batch and ate 6 of them too.
The area that I am struggling with is exercise....   I have lot's of excuses.  Wanna hear a few?  Well, you see, Frodo started school and we used to take our family walks around 815 and didnt get home till after 9.  I want Frodo to have some down time and be in bed at 9.  And then you see, it gets dark earlier now.  When the hubby gets home from work around 630, we have dinner by 7 then you want the food to settle before walking so you're looking at 730 or 8 and the sun is already going down.  My hood has limited street lamps and pushing a stroller in the dark, crashing into huge cracks in the sidewalk is not fun for me or Sunshine.   And then.....  well you get the picture.
So, I really need to step up my game.  I need some new motivation like my own Harvey from Celebrity Fit Club, or a workout buddy, a babysitter, a rich person who could sponser a gym membership....  LOL, any of those would be great!
So, anyway that's my story and I hope to have more successes to share soon!   Thanks for hanging in there with me.

12 weeks... Already?

51 lbs in 12 weeks!!!  Not too shabby considering I am doing this without weight loss surgery, without a nutritionist, no trainer, no personal chef.  LOL   What I do have, is the support of friends, family and my Hubby.  Using the Social media was an idea I had to create accountability for myself.  I never realised the amount of encouragement I would receive from my cyber friends.   People send me recipes, diet tips, and notes saying good job.  They want to see me succeed!  A sincere thanks to my supporters, I couldn't do this without you!

I cant believe I have to admit this...   LOL, I also ate about 4 smores!

I cooked the marshmallows over the gas flame on my stove, how sad!  Damn the rain last Saturday night that kept us from having a fire at our party so the kids could eat smores.  I just have to keep the crap out of the house no matter what!

Would it be rude of me to ask my sister not to bring junk over for her daughter that I watch 5 days a week?  She packs her Brownies, fudge rounds, fruit snacks, animal crackers, chips....   Seriously?  Doesn't your kid eat anything healthy?   I find myself staring at the box of Little Debbie's, lusting over the sweet goodness, wondering if anyone would notice if I stole one...   Okay damn it, I did!  I ate a Fudge round the other day and it was delicious!  But I felt so guilty after not just for stealing it from a little girl, but for hurting myself.   I know that a little treat now and then is important, but that is not what this was.  I am a food addict and that Fudge Round was my crack.  I gave in to my addiction.  I must get back on the wagon!

Exercise log

On Monday night I walked for 40 minutes on the treadmill.  I set up a small TV near the mill so I could watch movies while I walk!  It def made the time pass faster!

Losing my mojo...

This happens every time I go on a diet.  I do really good, am totally motivated and completely commit ed. but then it gets boring and the old routines start creeping back...    It started with skipping my daily walk.  Maybe the weather was too warm?  Or maybe I needed to pack for a family getaway?  I found excuses not to walk...   I'm still doing pretty good with my food intake.   Most days I eat a very low cal, low fat, healthy diet, but I have given into temptation a few times.   I ate pizza and crazy bread, I ate some cheesy poofs as a snack, I drank my calories in the form of adult beverages...    Why does this feel like confession?  Forgive me followers for I have sinned.   LOL
I have not given up my quest, I am still on target to hit my goal of 299 by NYE!  That's Just about 2 pounds a week.  Now I need to get my ass back in gear and start fighting again!

Wed exercise log

Tonight we walked to the grocery store.  That's right, we walked!  Insane, I know.  We used Sunshine's basket under the stroller to cart the groceries home, until it collapsed under the weight.  I told the DH not to buy 2 gallons of iced tea...  but does he listen to me???  NO!!!!   So we had to carry the bags about half way home.  He was being HeMan, pushing the stroller and carrying all but 1 bag.  I think he felt guilty for not listening.
Well, anyway...  it was about 2 miles round trip!  Woot woot   Go Me!

Wed food log

3 Scrambled egg beaters with green peppers and a pinch of Low fat cheese
1 1/2 pieces of whole wheat toast

big bowl of pineapple
handful of popcorn
1 small piece of dark chocolate from Lilly's

dirty rice with chopped green peppers Ground turkey and a can of black beans added
I put the mixture in lettuce wraps, yum!

June 8th exercise log

After dinner, it started to drizzle so we stopped at home to check the weather forecast.  Rain was coming, but we couldn't tell how soon it would hit.  We decided to go for it.  We drove a few miles from home to check out the West creek Metro parks trail.  The path was made with tiny gravel that kicked up into my crocs.   (Have to remember tennis shoes next time)   It was extremely quiet and peaceful, a little touch of wilderness in the middle of State and Broadview Rds.  We only saw about 3 other people on the trail.  There was an occasional drop of rain, but it never really rained enough to bother us.  We walked out about 30 minutes, got sort of lost and backtracked to the original trail to find our way out of the woods.  We joked about how we were in the Fire Swamp from Princess Bride or in some of the battle scenes from Lord of the Rings.  I thought we were acting out The Blair Witch Project when we got lost, If it weren't for the huge cell phone towers all around...  LOL The air smelled like fresh cut grass, we saw a few deer, It was a great walk!

Tues food log

3 eggs scambled with green peppers and a sprinkle of lowfat cheese
whole wheat bagel with spray butter

Tuna salad  ~  I tossed a can of tuna, handful of baby carrots, 1/4 of a green peppers and a big glop of non fat cottage cheese in the food processor.  I came out really runny, so I added another can of tuna.  It was surprisingly tasty.
2 pieces of whole wheat bread toasted

fruit salad ~ raspberries, blueberries, pineapple and watermelon

Frodo's last day of school so he picked a special dinner.  A Pizza buffet!!!  OMG, torture!
I had 2 plates of salad with just a smidge of blue cheese dressing and like 4 croutons
and I had 2 pieces of sausage and green pepper pizza.  at least the pizza crust is fairly thin and cut pretty small.  I did not eat the yummie brownies or cinnamon roll desserts...  such willpower!  LOL

Cravings

I really want sweets!  Anything sweet and high in calories will do.  Then again anything crunchy and salty sounds pretty good too.  So, when I picked up Frodo from school, I offered to take him for an ice cream cone to celebrate his last day of school.  He had a whistle pop from school and wanted that instead.  I told him, 'are you sure?  cause mommy is going to get ice cream...'  He said 'are YOU sure?  What about your diet, do you wanna be fat?'   (He said it with love, not a hint of  being mean)  'Well, I was going to get the SF/FF kind.'  I said.  To which he replied 'How about we just have some apple slices when we get home?'    What a great idea!  Thanks for keeping me on track little man.

Sunday exercise log

I didn't really want to go for a walk tonight. I was tired and feeling blah, but we went anyway. Halfway through it started to rain, we made it to the pavilion before the down pour. DJ was not happy, he pretty much screamed for 10 minutes, as we waited out the storm. It tapered to a drizzle and we started off for ...home. I was even more unhappy about walking, uhg I knew we should have skipped it. But then...
the most brilliant rainbow popped up in the sky. As we walked home, we saw people getting out of their cars and staring up at the miracle of nature. And just think, if I hadn't taken the walk, got caught in the rain, waited in the pavilion.... I would have missed it!

Dare to Dream

I went to a get together with some fellow SJA graduates last night.  We met up at a bar in the old neighborhood, I miss Westpark.  I spent 24 yrs growing up there, If I didn't have kids, or could afford a private school education for them, I would love to move back to that area.   Any way...  I picked up my BFF from HS and we went in together.  There were only about a dozen of us there.  It's funny how some people seem to have matured, mellowed out, whatever you want to call it, and others seem to be hanging on to the old status rankings.  Will we always have the clicks?  You know, the jocks, nerds, druggies, snobs, etc???   Well guys, that was nearly 20 yrs ago, I'd like to think that I am a different person and I would like to think that you are too.  I will do my best to forget what I used to think about you...  and try to find out who you are now.  I hope you will do the same for me!   I look forward to getting together again!

Thursday exercise log

OMG...  I think I'm crazy!  I actually planned out my walk today because Frodo was at the zoo with his school and I didn't want him to have to walk home after spending the day at the zoo.  And, I was going out with some old friends from HS that evening so I wouldn't be able  to walk at night with the family.  I knew that I needed to make a trip to the bank, so I used Bing maps to see how far of a walk it was.  1.2 miles each way!  I can do that!  Ugh....  Have I ever told you how much I hate the sun?  Well, it's a lot!  I don't mind it when I'm in the house, it's quite lovely the way it shines through the windows naturally lighting the house.  But, I hate it beating down on my fair skin.  It feels like fire burning me.  And It was over 80 degrees yesterday too, what was I thinking?   I made it to the bank, no problem.  hot, winded and sweaty but that's to be expected.  It took about 20 minutes.  I caught my breath, had a drink of water, took care of my banking needs and got ready for the walk back home.  I was at the half way point when my stomach started churning, I had to go to the bathroom, #2 and soon!  LOL, I thought about stopping into a school I passed but figured that wouldn't let a sweaty, scary looking woman in to use the facilities, so I kept walking, praying and clenching my....  well, you know.   I thought about knocking on random doors, "Can I use your bathroom?  I have this stroller and cute little kid as collateral."  But I don't think I would let anyone in MY house much less even answer the door.  So, I kept walking, praying...  Usually when I go on long walks like this, the DH is with me.  We take turns pushing 32 pounds of Sunshine in his stroller, but I was on my own today and my arms were so tired.  I tried to stop and shake out my arms a bit, but I knew I had to keep moving and get to the bathroom ASAP.  I was so tired....   hot.... sweaty....  my skin was on fire.  Finally, I arrived at home.  I yanked the little one from the stroller and left it in the driveway.  I dropped him off in the kitchen and ran for the bathroom.....  ahhhhh.  Thank God, I made it!   TMILOL, too bad you're the one who chose to read it.     I checked myself out in the mirror and my face looked like a tomato, it was bright red.  I jumped in the shower with the water as cold as I could stand and tried to cool down.  10 minutes later, my face was still pink.  But, I did feel better!  It's funny how during the walk, I thought I was going to fall over in exhaustion, but now I felt great!  Maybe that's the exercise rush I've been hearing about?  I'm not saying the walking is getting easier...  not at all, but I do feel better, happier and prouder after doing it.  (Is prouder a word?  More proud just doesn't sound right either.  And who decides whether its adding the er or more to a word?)
Well...  anyway I walked 2.4 miles in just under an hour.

Holiday weekend food log

Friday I ate a small omelet with green peppers and ham for breakfast.  I skipped the home fries and opted for fresh fruit instead.  I also only ate 1 piece of wheat toast.  I don't remember eating anything for lunch.  But dinner was Mexican!  I had a frozen strawberry margarita, chicken fajitas and just a few tortilla chips.  I boxed up about half of the fajita fixings to limit the amount I ate.

Breakfast was another small green pepper and ham omelet.  I do miss the cheese, but it's still yummy without it.  Today I ate the home fries too.  But only a few.  We went up to my BIL's camper/trailer/mobile home thingy on Saturday and spent the night.  Its hard to be good with eating health during cookouts and family get together.  We packed a few healthy options for the weekend to make it a bit easier.  We brought chicken brats and turkey hot dogs for dinner and turkey sausage and wheat bread for breakfast.  We also brought plenty of fruit for snacking.  Grapes, honeydew, strawberries. blueberries, apples, watermelon.....    I did pretty good, but did give in to a few temptations.  I had 2 beers and a diet soda, baked tortilla chips and the BIL's awesome homemade salsa as well as some shelled peanuts and even 1 big bite of a smore!  (OMG, it was ooey, gooey delicious!)  I keep hearing that it is OK to have a bit of the bad stuff, as long as it is in moderation.  I hope the scale will agree with that next week.

When we got home Sunday night, we grabbed a pizza for dinner, not the best choice!  I did get a salad first and picked off  almost all the cheese and only added a few drips of dressing.  I ate 2 pieces of the pizza with green peppers and even pulled off a little of the cheese too.

I made blueberry pancakes for breakfast.  We made a big mistake going to a Chinese buffet on Monday for lunch.  I tried to focus on the dishes with veggies like chicken and broccoli and pepper steak but the sauces were impossible to avoid.  The DH and I both felt like crap after eating.  I hope we learned a lesson and will avoid buffets going forward.  Dinner was 2 turkey dogs.  1 bun and about a 1/4cup of pork and beans.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday exercise log

Friday night, we walked up to Frodo's school with a wagon full of paper recycles to drop off.  This is a 2 mile trek.
We went out to my BIL's trailer on Saturday.  Bear and I took a walk with Sunshine and the dog through the campground.  It turned really dark and we didn't think to bring a flashlight.  We had to walk up to the street sign and read them with the light on our cell phones.  We got a little lost and took about an hour walk when we only meant to be gone a half.
After dinner at Antonio's, (pizza!! )  we walked down the strip center to Walmart then around the parking lot crossing the street to go to the grocery store and then back across the street to our car at the pizza joint.  We walked well over an hour total!

Stress Eating ~ Rant

I am going through the absolute most stressful moments of my life thus far.  I don't want to go into details right now but I could really use a few extra positive vibes from everyone.  (Thx)  I just want to drown out the fear and worry by eating.  I want to drive to Dairy Queen for a Brownie earthquake, I want to head over to KFC and try one of those double down chicken heart attacks, I want to stop at Krispy Kreme (and I don't even care if the fresh donuts light is on).  Sometimes, when I'm really sad or upset, I lose my appetite, the thought of food makes me ill.  I wonder what the difference is?  How does my mind decide which way to go?  I am fighting through the urges and the fact that I am busted broke is keeping me from heading out on a fast food binge.

You inspire me!

Over the past 2 weeks, I have been using Facebook to share a little piece of my weight loss journey. I have well over 900 friends in this online community. A few of them are my Best friends, the people that I have known since before high school, you know the ones that you 1st got drunk with? The ones you called to tell about your first kiss? The ones you cried with the 1st time your heart was broken? The ones I chose to be the Godparents of my children! Some of them are my immediate family members, and others are family that I wish I were closer to, both mentally and geographically. Others are people that I have met through my career in retail or through the schools that I attended and have reconnected with, maybe not in real life but through Facebook. And the vast majority are my gaming friends. People that I have never met in RL (Real Life), but have become real friends.

I have been amazed, surprised and humbled by the response I have received from my friends on Facebook. Many people that I only thought of as acquaintances, have been incredibly positive and supportive. I know it sounds lame, but I never realized the friends I had and how these people care for me and my health.

Several friends have commented that I am inspiring THEM! Inspiring them to get up and get moving... Although I am honored, please know, It is YOU that inspire me! Your words of encouragement mean so much. When I don't want to get up off my big fat ass and exercise, I think of you and how much you believe in me. When I want to fall back into old habits and pull into McDonald's to buy a Super Sized value meal, I think of you and how you want me to succeed. When you tell me that I inspire you.... You make me want to work even harder. So, thank you friends, without your support, I wouldn't be doing this. I would have given up already, like I have so many times before. But this time, it feels different, it seems possible and for that I thank YOU!

Saturday excercise log

We went to the Rec center tonight for some swimming. I mostly played in the water with the kids, not really what you call exercise, so when we got home at 930, I jumped on the treadmill for 1/2 hour. I really didn't want to... and while I was walking, I started slacking on the speed, dropping down to 2.5 an hour and I realised the only person I was cheating was ME. So I kicked it back up, nothing extreme, just my normal 3.0. I really want a TV down there, maybe that will take my mind off the clock.... But I doubt it!

Saturday food diary

2 4in blueberry delicious pancakes
orange juice with fresh strawberries and ice smoothie

lunch was kinda crazy, we were at a local warehouse club that was having some awesome tastings from area restaurants. So I had:

Friday exercise log

It was an internal struggle for me... To walk to the school or not. Yesterdays walk was miserable. I hated every moment, I do not want to walk the 2 mile trek today!!! But, it is cooler out,and cloudy too... perfect weather for a walk! Yea, but you're still tired from yesterday and your SIL said you should vary your routine to avoid lactic acid build up!!! Well, what if you drive half way? Well the boy will tell Dad that we didn't walk the whole way, and you'll have to admit to nearly 1000 Facebook friends that you didn't do it. And??? SO WHAT !!! Well, I couldn't deal with the stress so I got dressed, grabbed my tennis shoes and headed for the stroller. I Loaded Sunshine in and started the long trek. I knew I had plenty of time, so I started off at a slower pace than normal. Hmmm, this isn't so bad! Ahhhh, nice breeze, this feels good. When I got to the school, I was winded but not huffing and puffing. I checked the time... huh, only a minute or 2 behind my normal pace. And I still have energy... COOL! Now, I can't lie and act like the walk home was a piece of cake (Cake? Did someone say Cake? MMMM, does anyone have a Birthday coming up soon? I mean it would be rude, maybe even bad karma not to eat a piece of Birthday cake right? I am a cake racist. White on white is my favorite, yum! Oh shit... let me get back to my story.) it was a challenge to keep going. But I did it, without feeling like I was going to die! Sweet, I am so proud of myself, in the words of London Tipton "GO ME!!!" Tomorrow is official weigh in day, wish me luck!

Thursday excercise log

Ugh... that was a killer! I walked to pick the boy up from school again today. It is much warmer and more sunny today than yesterday. If you know me in RL, you know that I am an Irish Lassie with the pale, fair, freckled skin to prove it. Spending time in the sun is NEVER my idea of a good time! I felt like my skin was on fire, damn how could I leave the sunscreen at home? Oh well... I was dragging ass from the moment I left the house. Sweating, huffing, puffing, chaffing. ( LOL, you fatties know what I'm talking about. Right?) I made it to the school, caught a 1o minute breather waiting on Frodo. Why he is almost always the last one out, I will never know. But the whole time, I was dreading the walk home! Argh, I should have driven half way and walked the rest. I swear I thought I was going to have to stop in someones yard and take a nap. I found every opportunity to stop; at every cross walk ~ oh no cars, you go first,
please! What's that Frodo? Your shoe is untied? Well have a seat and I'll help you ~ by plopping on the ground and catching my breath! When we finally made it home, I made Frodo run inside to get me a bottled water. I was so parched, I just swished the cool water around my mouth and spit it out. I seriously sat on the drive way in the shade of the house for at least 10 minutes. I peeled off my shoes and socks while sitting there. Willing myself to get the energy to take Sunshine out of the Stroller and into the house. I really don't think I'm going to try the 2 mile walk to Hell again tomorrow. I mean even God needed a day of rest right?

Wednesday

Whew... I can't believe I did it! I actually felt a little giddy before I did it, scared too but definitely excited and ready for the challenge. The 1st half was awesome! I was a ball of energy, pumping like crazy. I never stopped, just kept moving, I was unstoppable. By the time I reached the climax, I was out of breath but so proud of myself. Hey! Do you even know what I'm talking about? The walk to Frodo's school! Get your mind out of the gutter. (Ha ha I'm a dork, I know.) Unfortunately, I timed the walk wrong and arrived at his school with just over 15 minutes to kill. That 15 minutes killed my energy! I just wanted to lay down in the grass and take a nap by the time Frodo walked out the doors of the school. But, I had no choice , I had to get home and I certainly wasn't going to call Bear and have him pick us up. So.... off we went, a little slower than before.... with a few quick stops to catch... my breath.... and low and behold, we made it! Woot, woot! 9 days of exercise IN A ROW! Trust me, this is a record... One I plan on breaking on Thursday!!!!

Tuesday

So, I think I'm doing pretty good with the foods I'm eating. But it seems really weird. I've been eating anything and everything whenever I want for so long. I don't know how regular people eat. I'm trying to listen to my body, 'Hey stomach... are you really hungry? or just bored? ' I don't think it can hear me, I mean there is a lot of blubber in the way, must be muffling the sound. Anyway.....
For breakfast I wanted pancakes or a Belgium waffle with strawberry syrup and lots of whipped cream. Well, I'm only a week into this thing, what do you expect? old habits die hard. However, I am pretty committed to this so I read the box of pancake mix and followed the serving size. (2) 4inch pancakes, okay... they looked so tiny! I had strawberries, so I threw about half a cup into the magic bullet and pureed into a frothy, sweet, beautiful bright red sauce. I eyed a banana on the counter. I grabbed half, sliced it up and topped my pancakes with them, and poured the strawberry sauce YUM~O!!!! It was so good and it quenched my craving, without killing my healthy goal.
Lunch was a turkey hot dog on a slice of wheat bread with just half a serving of sweet potato chips. Oh, and some watermelon too.
I needed a snack to get me to dinner, so I had some roasted red pepper hummus on wheat crackers, and some baby carrots
And dinner? Well... We have a ton of crappy food that we just can't throw out, so please don't judge me! I made a frozen supreme pizza. But, I added an entire chopped up green pepper and only ate 2 slices. And, I added a salad. A Sherry salad is usually just a wedge of lettuce, I have never been a big fan of dressing.
And dessert, I am so bad... I like my late night sweets! I made my own ice cream sammies. Chocolate Graham crackers with a dollop of cool whip in between. Freeze em up = delish low cal treat!
And guess what? I walked again! The whole family went out around 8 and did a tour of the neighborhood. Close to 40 minutes! Whoo Hoo

Monday

It was raining today so I had to move to the treadmill. I did 30 minutes. Yea Me! Thanks to the DH for cleaning the basement to set up the treadmill and for watching the boys so I could walk. As far as food intake, not too shabby today. Small bowl of Raisin Bran with skim milk for breakfast, and a Venti skinny latte from The Bucks, a chicken, green pepper, black bean and brown rice burrito (no cheese, that's a biggie for me)for lunch. My FIL brought over breaded pork chops and mashed potatoes for dinner. YUM~O I love his chops, but I pulled off most of the breading and made broccoli as a side dish. I snacked on some baby carrots and watermelon too. I am still hungry, but I will ignore the growling and just go to bed!

One week down, the rest of my life to go

The first week was surprisingly easy. Overall, I think I did a good job. Actually, I did a great job! I don't think I have EVER been so diligent about getting up and moving my ass. On Monday and Wednesday, instead of just dropping Frodo off at soccer and going back home, I stayed and walked the track with Sunshine in his stroller. And then on Thursday we walked about 40 minutes on a local trail. I was huffing and puffing after 10 minutes. I am so out of shape! On Friday, the whole family walked round trip about 2 and a half miles for ice cream. Once we got there, I just couldn't get my own dessert. I had worked way to hard to make it. But of course, my will power is only so strong... I did steal a few bites from every ones treats. On Saturday we went to Frodo's soccer game and a street fair. So we got some walking in during the day. We were exhausted when we got home, but come 8o'clock, we just got up and got ready for our walk. No whining or complaining. We walked around the neighborhood for about 40 minutes. The walking is getting a little easier. Sunday we were scheduled to do a Secret Shop for a yummy but extremely unhealthy restaurant, known for their desserts. I tried to be good, getting a salad; but I just couldn't resist the bread basket. And then Bear had the nerve to ask for a second basket. Damn him! We left the restaurant with every intention of coming back to get our dessert to go, and started walking around the shopping center. We were really tired, walking at a snails pace. We went to the specialty grocery store and bought only healthy foods. I was going to remind the DH about dessert but thought better of it. We were already home when he realized we forgot to go back. Like I said, we were already exhausted but we still got off our butts and did our walk that night. The intention was to do just a quick 15 out and 15 back. But, we wound up checking how long it would take to get to Frodo's school instead. Let's just say it's about 2 miles round trip and it took about 50 minutes. So much for a quick 30.
So how did I do as far as weight loss? -12 pounds! Go Me!

The 1st Weigh in

I can't believe I am going to do this. Most women do not like to share their age much less their weight. But I want to face the facts and get real. As of Monday May 10th I weighed 379 pounds. I know, I'm HUGE I have truly earned the nickname Hubba Bubba CHUBBA!

The Hubba Bubba Chubba Story

I can't remember ever being thin.... Not even just a little chuuby, I have always been FAT! Yep, I said it the dreaded F word. It's okay, as a fat person, I have permission to call myself that. YOU however, do not! To you, I am morbidly obese thank you very much. It's kinda like the 'N' word, you gotta be one to earn the right to use the word.
Well anyway, I think I was about 8yrs old when the neighborhood kids came up with a couple of great insults. One was Sherry Ferry the big fat cherry, (good use of rhyme, easy to chant, however, not very creative I give it an 8) the other was Hubba Bubba Chubba (Nice use of a chewing gum name, much more original and way more catchy it earns a perfect 10). The area I grew up in was very stable. I went to grade school, middle school and high school with the same people and I have always been the fat girl. It is who I am, my identity ~ and I am tired of it! This blog is my way of documenting my journey. I don't know where the road will take me, but I'm ready to enjoy the ride......
